The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) in Berlin, Germany will officially be opened with a ceremony and a panel discussion on 27 March 2017. One of the panelists is Professor Viacheslav Morozov from the University of Tartu.
The panel discussion at the opening event is titled “Destructive Convergence: Are Democracies and Authoritarian Regimes becoming more alike?”. The panelists in addition to Prof Morozov will include Ivan Krastev (Chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies, Sofia, and Permanent Fellow at the Institute of Human Sciences, Vienna); Ingo Mannteufel (Head of the Department for Europe and Russia, Deutsche Welle), and Prof Silvia von Steinsdorff ( Professor of Comparative Political Science and Political Systems of Eastern Europe, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). The panel will be moderated by Prof Gwendolyn Sasse, Director of ZOiS.
ZOiS is a recently founded independent research institution in Berlin, Germany, the aim of which is to provide necessary long-term expertise on Russia and the Eastern Europe both to German as well as international audiences.
