On 19 October, Prof Viacheslav Morozov (Tartu), Prof Richard Sakwa (Kent), and Prof Stefan Hedlund (Uppsala) are taking part in the opening event of the Russia Platform, a new centre in the field of Russian studies launched at the University of Ghent, Belgium.
The ambition of the Russia Platform is to coordinate, facilitate and stimulate cooperation with Russia and knowledge about Russia in higher education, research, as well as service to society. The opening debate of the Russia platform focuses on Russia’s future. The panelists include, along with Stefan Hedlund and Viacheslav Morozov, Prof Koen Schoors (Ghent University) and Prof Lien Verpoest (KU Leuven). The debate is moderated by journalist Jan Balliauw (VRT).
Prof Morozov from Tartu welcomed the launch of the new centre at Ghent: “I think that this is a very timely initiative, we need to engage with Russian universities more and enhance our cooperation in the field of Russian studies in the current times of crisis. UPTAKE is happy to be a partner for the Russia Platform, and we look forward to cooperating with them in all areas in the future.”
