One of the key aims of UPTAKE is to raise the level of collaboration between consortium members by producing joint publications, new joint research projects and grant applications.
The first joint research project, focusing on Russian diasporas, was discussed at the UPTAKE workshop on March 15, 2016 in Narva, Estonia and at another workshop on December 15-16, 2016 in Uppsala, Sweden. Third UPTAKE workshop on “Ontological Status of Culture and Emotions in Politics and IR” took place on 21-22 April 2017 in Tartu, Estonia.
On 2-3 November 2017 another workshop, entitled “Whither Liberal World Order? Challenges from Russia, Eurasia, and Beyond”, took place. The fifth workshop “Ethnopolitics in Central and Eastern Europe in a State of Flux” was held on 9-10 February 2018. The sixth workshop in the framework of UPTAKE took place on 19 October 2018 and was dedicated to “Democracy in Reverse: Patterns of Autocratization in Eastern Europe and Eurasia”. Final two UPTAKE workshops were organised jointly with the GCRF COMPASS in November and December 2018.
As a result of the workshops, several joint publications and special issues have been published or are currently in process. Recently, a special issue in the European Politics and Society, edited by Elias Götz (Uppsala) and Camille Merlen (Kent), was published online.
